Today I’m further exploring essentialism, and negative space. The power of less. The prospect of free time.
It’s a common theme I find myself playing out: striving for a slower life, a more intentional life, a more purposeful life. It’s an idea that I think is still foreign to a lot of us because it’s hard to escape the daily grind. Since departing for Europe, I’ve been playing around with the idea of negative space. I was so focused on my present moment that nothing else mattered. I didn’t think about a list of things to do and I wasn’t thinking about writing for the blog. I was enjoying the free time from tasks.
Since returning, I’ve been reevaluating whats absolutely essential in my day. I’m shifting my focus and dropping certain daily tasks. I’m focusing on the important people in my life. I’m embracing a life path that makes me happier. I’m adding intentional negative space to my days.
I’m learning to be more selfish in the right ways. To put myself first.
“Sometimes it is what you don’t do which defines you. It is the negative space that shapes your life. It is the things you don’t say, the decisions you don’t make, the actions you don’t take. These things can set you apart from those that do.”
